Fish is also an excellent alternative to red meat as compared to red meat; fish is extremely low in cholesterol and saturated fat! This means it can also help you stay lean and fit! These fish choices include cod, mackerel, tuna, halibut and salmon!

Obesity and weight gain are leading factors of diabetes! Therefore, it is greatly advised to many to switch to low fat foods! The meat we eat very commonly is high in saturated fats, of which is very harmful for overall health and in the development of diabetes! What is needed is for you to cut back on you saturated fats by first eliminating the amount of red meat, eggs and whole fat diary one may have in their diet! Reduce your intake of red meat by switching to white meat, skinless poultry! For eggs, minus the yolk, granted it may not taste all that great however you can try being creative! For instance, try making a scrambled egg with bell peppers! You won’t even notice the missing yolk! Also try consuming low fat dairy products!
Unsaturated foods are also a very healthy choice when trying to avoid the risk of diabetes! Not only that, but foods rich in unsaturated fat also helps support brain, and heart health! Try using oils such as olive oil, canola oils and even sunflower oils for cooking and sautéing vegetables. Consume foods like nuts, seeds, and even avocados as healthy snacks. Use these items however you choose, just make sure to incorporate them into your diet!
